Hay varios errores en la traduccion. Lo más graciosa es "the relationship is disgusting." Esto significa "la relación es asquerosa".  Seria mejor decir -" the relationship is running out of steam" or "going nowhere" o "coming to an end" o  "in decline"

Hi, John. I'm new here and while I was browsing your website, I came across that phrase of yours " the relationship is running out of steam", that I didn't know. So is that a synonym to "a relationship coming to an end or declining"?

Then the idea seems to be that the relationship is losing its steam, its vapour (its life), it's drying itself? Do you think I'm right? Interesting phrase! I 've always loved English idioms, they're so expressive!

Running out of steam may have become popular when trains and ships were powered by steam. If you don't have enough fire burning in the boiler then you would not have enough steam to go forward..

El desgaste de la relación fue a consecuencia del distanciamiento prolongado, lo cual erosionó el vínculo, y condujo a ella a pedir el fin de la misma

Quote from John Running out of steam may have become popular when trains and ships were powered by steam. If you don't have enough fire burning in the boiler then you would not have enough steam to go forward..

Yes, it sounds reasonable, and as the purpose here is to exchange our knowledge of languages, I suppose that the Spanish word for "boiler" in this context is "caldera". Do you agree?
